Sometimes a little bit of rest is as good as working hard..

Bit of a long title this week, and another late one! Don't get me wrong, writing these blogs has become somewhat, my own therapy so I haven't forgotten, its just, the road is a little bit bumpy at the moment, but I'm sure we will be on a nice steady flat soon.  Lion's Wednesday 🦁 Now, Wednesday to me used to always be 'hump day' and way back when ( we're talking Windsor days ) this would mean caramel latte day to get me over the worst. My bank balance is  much  a bit healthier than lining the fat cats of Starbucks, being back in the north and a complete change in mindset / routine / life now sees Wednesday and Lions day! It helps me make sure I'm home from work early enough to see Mr Coxy, get changed and head out for some nature therapy.  Unfortunately I was a lone ranger this week, it was a really special week for Jess - Marathon week - so she had decided to give Wednesday a break.  I knew I'd still feel comfortable, so I did what I would never b...

& The Bees Still Buzz

I've been very excited about this week, but I needed to take it slow. This week saw me take on my biggest race. The Great Manchester Run , part of the the Great Run series perfect trial run ready for September for crowd size and participants. Lions Wednesdays 🦁 As previously mentioned, I love that I've started going out on a Wednesday with the Lions (I think it helps because the weather has been so lovely recently) This week saw a nice 5k route, which was a taster of a trail run, through fields and ending up down the canal. I had the best company in the form of Jess (who else!?) so we just pottered and nattered. It was perfect running weather, and our (not so) personal photographer, Stu took probably one of my most favourite photos of me and Jess!  Don't ask me why this photo tickled me. We finished the route down by the canal. We were asked if we remembered which bridge along the canal we needed to get off at to get back to the clubhouse (pub, The Golden Lion) It's t...

Grab a brew & let's have a catch up!

Hello! Have you missed me? No Sunday post this week, because I'll be honest, I ended up having 10 hours of blissful sleep.. I will not confirm nor deny if it was down to a cheeky Sunday pint or not. I will let you, dear reader, make your own mind up about that...  But I did spend Sunday afternoon watching / oggling Freddie Flintoff playing cricket.  Vernon's T20 cricket match So! We have a lot to catch up on.. Hold on tight... Wednesday Lions run 🦁 I really am enjoying these Wednesday runs being part of my weekly routine now. It's the middle of the week, they take place in what I would call an area of natural beauty. We don't pound the pavements around housing estates, it is perfect escapism for what is a very busy hectic week. (always!) It really does give me time to just switch off and feel free. I'm really glad I'm working hard to keep this one up. Anyway, this week I was finally able to tick something off my running bucket list that I've been wanting t...

Team Lions at Chorley 10k Well, what a turn of events this week had. Strangely I felt good on Monday, we went for a lovely bank holiday walk to Worden Park and that's where my week kind of took a nosedive. Walking home, I said to Mr Coxy, "My entire body is aching. I think I'm going to take a nap when we get home." Instead of the usual sofa nap I took myself off to bed, I couldn't regulate my temperature. Hot, cold, hot cold. No, this cannot be happening. I have Chorley 10k at the weekend. It was happening. After frantically playing at Dr. Google I self diagnosed as having the Flu, and it takes approximately 5 days to get over flu. It was Monday. Perfect. 5 days, Friday. Better for Sunday.  I was wiped out for the entire week , which left Sunday up in the air.  By some form of small miracle, I managed to drink enough Lemsip, honey and lemon and cough medicine to feel human by Saturday. Great! Parkrun can happen. Parkrun was only happening to test myself for Sund...

It's all about the balance..

I came into this week trying not to do too much like last week and I think, I've just about found the balance.. I've really enjoyed my runs this week. The weather has helped massively, and my mood has just been lifted so much more. Finding time to run in the week is definitely something I need to add in more.  Wednesday Netflix run 🦁 For those familiar with 'Stay Close' on Netflix, you will be aware that there is a little hidden gem of a shoot location, local to where I live. Since finding this out, I've been desperate to find out where, but my fear of getting lost has always made me not explore that area. Well, Wednesday night saw that disappear and we were off to find the ruins!  It was a gorgeous evening for a run. The start of the run was uphill, a very steady incline which I usually detest. I managed to just put my head down and get up without stopping. The best bit about this? I knew that coming back down would be great. The sky on Wednesday evening was just ...
