13.1

Sorry for the radio silence. I've been in absolute disbelief / enjoying the moment / feeling of a fraud for the past week.. because I HAVE RUN 13.1 MILES.  Owner of some new bling 26.06.22 I think it has taken me this long to actually write these words because I still, cannot believe that I, the girl who can't run, has put one foot in front of the other and got around a half marathon!  This is what this blog has always been about. The journey to 13.1 miles, The Great North Run. The pinnacle of my journey. If you read back previous posts, you will be able to see all the work, and the effort that has gone into getting to this point. Its not been easy, but - if it was easy everyone would be doing it, right?! So here is how the most important week of my running 'career' panned out. Don't get me wrong this was not my idea. My idea was to turn up to GNR and run the race of my life. But, I am so glad I have done the distance now, because I do not want my experience ruined...

This week I seemed to be in the hangover from celebrating my 50th Parkrun. No I didn't drink, it was just the comedown from the wonderful time I had last Saturday. For some reason I had a complete mental block last week, and for love nor money could I remember my Paypal password... so it took me a while to order my milestone T shirt, but do not worry dear readers, it was here in time for Saturday! (naturally!) Upgraded T - shirt time! Wednesday Lions run 🦁 Outside the Clubhouse This week, we appeared to have been hit with our 'heatwave'. Perfect running I hear you say... perhaps not so much. Either way there was no way I was missing Wednesday and what a glorious evening it was. We did the Netflix run again, which is always lovely to do, and, as you reach Brinscall Woods it is wonderfully shaded. I really enjoyed this week's run. I was on my own as Jess was in the office for work but this is what I love about Wednesdays. You go out as a group and you have no idea who y...

Milestone Klaxon alert!

This week was a week I have been counting down till for the past goodness knows how many weeks.  It was finally here. My 50th Parkrun. Now unless you've been living under a rock / new to this blog / not spoke to me in a while, I have not shut up about reaching this milestone for a very long time. For some reason 25 did not fill me with as much satisfaction as I thought it would, so operation 50 was a go. It didn't seem too far away, and so the obsession took over.  Its quite crazy to think that I have done Parkrun every week since January and we were finally at the climax of this mission. I think it helps that I have fallen in love with running, more than I ever have, and I have a great support network around me, which was proved to me Saturday morning with all the absolute legends that came to celebrate on the park with me.  I'm not going to go on too much, because I was run report writer for Preston this week where you can read about most of it here . But I do need to ...

Smiles make the miles go faster.

Well, this week I had been granted a lovely half term break, so following on from last week's rest, I wanted to continue resting to allow my body to properly recover ready for the busiest half term!  It didn't really turn out that way.. but there has been a lot of adventures on the way. Before I begin, I kind of feel that this blog has taken a huge turn! It was set up to initially beg / pester people to sponsor me for my greatest challenge yet - The Great North Run. And all these races / runs were supposed to be training for 13.1 miles, but so much has changed. Friendships / communities and new routines have stemmed from this and - life is looking a little brighter.  Thank you, thank you to those who come back, week on week to read about my adventures and musings. I've had so many lovely comments about my blog, and it baffles me the audience I've managed to reach. So, if you're an O.G reader - Thank you for committing to come along on this journey with me. If you...
